Climate, Environment, and Childhood Inequality (CECI)

CHINA

China study investigates relationships between ambient air pollution and birth and early developmental outcomes for children and considers how risk is mitigated or amplified for different population groups

INDIA

Current projects in India investigate heterogeneous immediate and persistent effects of floods on schools, teachers, and children’s education and learning in rural communities.

Focusing on low- and middle-income countries, this project investigates how global childhood inequalities condition both the risks and implications of exposure to environmental and climatic hazards.

Climate, Environment, Childhood Inequality (CECI)

Brief Description

The CECI consists of researchers from the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Houston, NYU/NYU-Shanghai, and other partners working on a suite of collaborative projects. We have teams of researchers working on projects about China, India, and comparative projects about low- and middle-income countries.

Projects

China

We have a team of researchers studying the relationships between ambient air pollution and birth and early developmental outcomes for children and considers how risk is mitigated or amplified for different population groups in China.

India

Our current projects in India, are related to the large number of school aged children and investigating heterogeneous immediate and persistent effects of floods on schools, teachers, and learning in rural communities.

LMIC

The Climate Risk, Pollution, and Childhood Inequalities in Low- and Middle-Income Countries project advances & disseminates scientific knowledge about global childhood inequalities related to climate hazards & extreme air pollution.
